2. Genesis 46:28

   Now Jacob had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When Jacob’s family arrived in the land of Goshen,

3. Genesis 47:1

   So Joseph went and told Pharaoh: “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all they own, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in Goshen.”

   “- Jacob in Goshen 11. רעמסס ra‛mesês, Ra‘meses “son of the sun.” 31. מטה mı̂ṭṭāh, “bed.” מטה maṭṭeh “staff.” Arrangements are now made for the settlement of Israel in Goshen. The administration of Joseph during the remaining years of the famine is then recorded. For the whole of this period his father and brothers are subject to him, as their political superior, according to the reading of his early dreams. We then approach to the death-bed of Jacob, and hear him binding Joseph by an oath to bury him in the grave of his fathers.

4. Exodus 8:22

   But on that day I will give special treatment to the land of Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of flies will be found there. In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.

   “And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell,.... Distinguish it from other parts of the land of Egypt: that no swarms of flies shall be there; which was a very wonderful thing, and so the word may be rendered.

   “I will sever in that day - הפליתי hiphleythi, has been translated by some good critics, I will miraculously separate; so the Vulgate: Faciam mirabilem, “I will do a marvellous thing.” And the Septuagint, παραδοξασω, I will render illustrious the land of Goshen in that day; and this he did, by exempting that land, and its inhabitants the Israelites, from the plagues by which he afflicted the land of Egypt.

5. Exodus 9:26

   The only place where it did not hail was in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived.

6. Joshua 10:41

   Joshua conquered the area from Kadesh-barnea to Gaza, and the whole region of Goshen as far as Gibeon.

   “And Joshua smote them, from Kadeshbarnea,.... Which lay to the south of the land of Canaan, Num 13:17, even unto Gaza, which lay to the southwest, and was one of the five principalities of the Philistines; of which city See Gill on Amo 1:7; and See Gill on Act 8:26, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon; to which he returned back in his way to his camp at Gilgal, having conquered all the southern part of the country. This country of Goshen is not that in the land of Egypt, as Kimchi rightly remarks.

   “From Kadesh-barnea unto Gaza - Num 13:26 This limits Joshua’s conquests on the west, as the other line, “all the country of Goshen unto Gibeon,” does on the east. Goshen Jos 15:51 has not been identified. It was in the southern part of the territory of Judah, and is, of course, quite distinct from the Goshen of Gen 46:28.
