Chapter summary

Community laws. The brother's ox or sheep gone astray — bring it home. The brother's ass fallen — lift it up. Women's clothes on a man, men's on a woman — abomination. The mother bird spared on the nest — ‘that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days’. Battlements on new house-roofs. No seed mixed in one vineyard, no ox and ass yoked together, no garment of wool and linen together. Fringes on the four quarters of thy vesture. Laws of virginity, adultery, rape, and the betrothed damsel — the tokens of virginity preserved by the parents, the elders at the gate as judges. The covenant community's fabric protected.

Drafted from Matthew Henry, Calvin, Gill, Clarke, JFB, and Barnes.
