John F. Ashton (ed.)

Dr. John F. Ashton is an Australian scientist (food-industry research specialty), Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Victoria University Melbourne, and a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute. He holds a B.Sc. honors in chemistry, an M.Sc. in chemistry (University of Tasmania), and a Ph.D. in epistemology (University of Newcastle). He is best known as editor of *In Six Days: Why Fifty Scientists Choose to Believe in Creation* (1999), a compilation of 50 essays from doctorate-holding scientists across multiple disciplines articulating their reasons for affirming literal six-day creation. He has subsequently edited and authored additional creation-and-faith titles. His role in the registry is principally as editor / compiler-curator of the YEC scientific-essay genre rather than as a primary theological voice.

• Creation Framework — Strict literal six-day Young-Earth Creation. The cumulative scientific-credential testimony of fifty doctorate-holding scientists (in *In Six Days*) is offered as evidence that YEC is scientifically defensible. Old-Earth concordism (Hugh Ross stream) and theistic evolution are rejected as compromises with naturalistic assumptions.
• Flood Geology — Noah's flood was global, catastrophic, and accounts for major geological features (sedimentary layering, fossil distribution, etc.). The framework is the standard YEC flood-geology articulation popularized in the 20th century by Whitcomb and Morris's *The Genesis Flood* (1961).
• Intelligent Design Status — ID arguments are appreciated but Ashton's framework presses beyond ID's typically OE-friendly stance to commit explicitly to YEC. The relationship is collaborative-but-distinct — Behe / Meyer / Discovery Institute material is referenced but not treated as sufficient.
