John Eckhardt
Eckhardt's theological project is the equipping of the church for operative deliverance, spiritual warfare, intercession, and prophetic ministry — within an apostolic-network framework that emphasizes governmental church order (apostolic oversight, prophetic foundation, fivefold ministry).
Short bio
Apostle John Eckhardt is the senior overseer of Crusaders Ministries (Chicago, IL) and the founder (1995) of the IMPACT Network — International Ministries of Prophetic and Apostolic Churches Together — a global network of hundreds of churches and ministries focused on training in intercessory prayer, spiritual warfare, deliverance, healing, prophecy, and church planting. He has ministered in 80+ nations and is widely recognized as a leading voice in the apostolic-prophetic-deliverance stream of the contemporary charismatic movement. His book catalog includes 40+ titles; *Prayers That Rout Demons* (2008) is a New York Times bestseller with over 1 million copies sold, joined by *Prayers That Break Curses*, *God's Covenant with You for Deliverance and Freedom*, *Destroying the Spirit of Rejection*, *Prophet Arise*, *Prophetic Activations*, *Deliverance and Spiritual Warfare Manual*, and *God Still Speaks*. He also leads Impact University, a prophetic-ministry training platform.
What they believed
- Fear of the Lord Emphasis — Affirmed; Eckhardt's catalog includes teaching on fear of the Lord but emphasis is on warfare-and-deliverance more than fear-of-Lord specifically. Functionally aligned with Bevere; emphasis-balance differs.
- Cost of Following — Affirmed; Eckhardt's framework treats deliverance and ongoing discipleship as costly — the believer must pursue ongoing repentance, surrender, and obedience. Not framed in the Bonhoeffer cost-of-discipleship register.
- Intercession as Co Laboring — Affirmed; intercession is the believer's co-laboring participation in the kingdom's advance. Eckhardt's framing aligns with Sheets but with greater emphasis on the deliverance-warfare dimension of intercession.
- Cessation — Strong continuationist; all gifts and offices operative.
- Healing in Atonement — Affirmed; healing is part of the believer's covenant inheritance.
- Believer Can Be Demonized — Born-again believers can be oppressed/occupied in unsurrendered soul/body areas; not in the regenerate spirit. Eckhardt is one of the principal modern systematizers of this Prince-stream position.
