Short bio

Dutch Sheets (born 1954) is an American Charismatic pastor, author, and intercession-movement teacher. Educated at Christ for the Nations Institute (Dallas), he served as a senior pastor of Springs Harvest Fellowship (Colorado Springs, CO) for over a decade and has held faculty and ministry roles at Christian International (Bishop Bill Hamon's apostolic-prophetic network). He founded Dutch Sheets Ministries, Givers of Life Ministries, and the Appeal to Heaven movement (post-2015), which has linked his teaching ministry to a public-prayer-for-the-nation emphasis using the historical "Appeal to Heaven" Pine Tree flag of the American Revolution. His book catalog includes *Intercessory Prayer* (1996, the standard text), *Watchman Prayer* (2000), *The River of God* (1998), *Authority in Prayer* (2006), *An Appeal to Heaven* (2015), and a daily devotional *Give Him 15* podcast/blog (2020–present) reaching a large subscriber base. *Intercessory Prayer* has sold over 500,000 copies.

What they believed

  • Fear of the Lord Emphasis — Sheets affirms the fear of the Lord but his catalog emphasis is on intercession-and-authority more than on holy-fear specifically. Functionally aligned with Bevere; emphasis-balance differs.
  • Cost of Following — Affirmed; intercession is itself costly Christian work — the intercessor stands in the gap, often unseen, often carrying burdens for others. Not framed in the Bonhoeffer cost-of-discipleship register.
  • Intercession as Co Laboring — Intercession is the extension of Christ's mediatory ministry through His body. The believer's prayer is co-laboring participation in the kingdom's advance — mediating between God and humanity to reconcile, and between Satan and humanity to enforce Calvary's victory. Prayer is governmental, not merely transactional.
  • Cessation — Strong continuationist; the apostolic, prophetic, and intercessory offices fully operative; the gifts active.
  • Victorious Eschatology vs Decline Narrative — Sheets leans toward victorious-kingdom-advance eschatology in operative practice while holding broadly pre-millennial framework doctrinally. His Appeal-to-Heaven framework assumes that intercession can shift national trajectories — implicitly aligning with Eberle's victorious-eschatology stream more than with Lindsey/Hagee declension-narrative.
  • Modern State Prophetic Significance — Pro-Israel; modern Israel is the prophetic regathering. Sheets's intercession framework includes regular prayer for Israel and the Jewish people.
