Charles Capps

Charles Capps (April 5, 1934 – May 23, 2014) was an American Pentecostal-Charismatic Bible teacher, ordained minister, and one of the principal articulators (with Kenneth Hagin) of the Word-of-Faith confession-theology stream. A former Arkansas farmer and land developer, he transitioned to itinerant Bible teaching after a personal-revelation experience he attributed to confession-of-God's-word principle. His ministry produced 30+ books and substantial audio teaching distributed primarily through Capps Publishing, Harrison House, Impact Christian Books, and his ministry website. His best-known works include *God's Creative Power* (multiple titles in this branded series; the original mini-book reportedly sold 3 million+ copies), *The Tongue: A Creative Force* (1976), *Faith and Confession*, and *Angels* (1984). His daughter Annette Capps (Tier 2) co-authored several titles and continues the ministry. Capps is downstream of Kenneth Hagin (Tier 1) doctrinally and is one of the most-direct articulators of the Word-of-Faith confession-and-creative-power-of-words framework.

• Guardian Angels Doctrine — Angels are operative ministering-spirits (Hebrews 1:14) that the believer can direct through faith-filled declarative prayer. Capps articulates substantial framework on activating angelic ministry.
• Descent Into Hades — Capps shared the Hagin-Kenyon "spiritual death of Christ" framework — the contested doctrine that Christ's death involved taking on Satan's nature in hell before resurrection. This is the most-contested doctrinal position; mainstream evangelical critics treat it as gospel-corroding.
