Ephesus: The church that left its first love — orthodoxy without passion.

Smyrna: The suffering church — poor yet rich, facing persecution unto death.

Pergamos: The compromising church — dwelling where Satan's throne is, tolerating false teaching.

Thyatira: The corrupt church — tolerating Jezebel and her seductive teachings.

Sardis: The dead church — a reputation for being alive, but spiritually lifeless.

Philadelphia: The faithful church — little strength, but kept Christ's word and not denied His name.

Laodicea: The lukewarm church — neither hot nor cold, wealthy yet spiritually bankrupt.
