Martin Luther
1483–1546
Martin Luther was a German professor of theology, priest, author, composer, and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. He challenged the Catholic Church with his Ninety-five Theses in 1517, which propelled the Reformation. Luther emphasized salvation by grace through faith alone (sola fide) and the authority of Scripture alone (sola scriptura).
