Plural form (-im suffix) with singular verb (bara); standard Hebrew construction known as the plural of majesty / pluralis maiestatis. Gesenius (PD) supplies the grammatical analysis. The same form recurs in Gen 1:26 ("let us make man in our image") — historically read by Christians as a Trinitarian foreshadowing, by Jewish tradition as a royal plural, and by some moderns as a divine-council reference. Surface all three readings honestly.
